Debbie Ballard, formerly known as Rex Ballard, has been an advocate of open standards for the Internet, making the Internet available to the public, commercialization of the Web, and expansion of the Internet globally through the adoption of Linux on recycled PCs.

She has also been an advocate of Open Source including Linux, the Apache web servers, and browsers based on Open Source.  She has also supported the commercialization of Open Source tools through the use of plug-ins and external service routines.

Debbie was also a supporter and advocate for Open Hardware including Linuk based netbooks and smartphones, including the Android system.

Debbie has also supported Open Standards based Java, and avoiding platform specific extensions such as J++.

As an IT Architect for IBM, Debbie developed solutions based on clusters, grids, virtual machines, and clouds.  She is now retired.
